Thousands without power after Typhoon Haikui batters Taiwan

Taiwan is working to restore power to over 40,000 households after Typhoon Haikui hit the east and south of the island. Schools and businesses in affected areas have closed, and domestic flights have been cancelled. The typhoon knocked out power for over 160,000 households, with 50,000 still awaiting restoration. There were five reported injuries but no deaths. Taiwan's government has evacuated over 7,000 people. Haikui is weaker than Typhoon Saola, which hit Hong Kong and Guangdong.
