Decomposed leopard skin found in lake garden Marol, Aarey Milk Colony

The decomposed skin of an adult leopard, wrapped in a cloth, was found near the Ganesh Mandir and lake garden on the Marol side of Aarey Milk Colony. Animal activists, including Pawan Sharma, founder of Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare, reached the site. The forest department is investigating if the skin is from a leopard in Aarey Colony or Sanjay Gandhi National Park using camera trap records and rosette identification. The seized skin is being examined to confirm its authenticity before further investigations proceed under the jurisdiction of Thane deputy chief conservator of forests.
