Isro to kick off New Year with Jan 1 launch of XPoSat to study black hole, neutron stars

ISRO to launch X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) on January 1. XPoSat will study 50 brightest sources in space including pulsars, black hole X-ray binaries, and neutron stars. It will be India's first dedicated polarimetry mission, exploring the polarisation of intense X-Ray sources. The rocket PSLV-C58 will carry XPoSat and 10 other payloads. The two main payloads are POLIX, measuring polarimetry parameters, and XSPECT, offering fast timing and excellent spectroscopic resolution in soft X-rays.
