The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) will begin construction of the fifth and sixth lines between Borivli and Virar on December 1. The project aims to segregate mail-express and suburban rail traffic between Mumbai Central and Virar, improving operational efficiency. 47 railway structures will be demolished to make way for the additional tracks, and the bidding process for foot over bridges will start on December 10. MRVC has completed the survey for the lines' alignment and submitted a proposal for land acquisition.
