Pollution measures: State yet to send report to Centre 2 wks after deadline

The compliance report on measures to tackle pollution in Mumbai, requested by the Union ministry of environment and forests, has not yet been submitted. The ministry had directed the state government and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board to stop garbage burning, draft a long-term action plan, install low-cost sensors, and monitor construction sites and vehicles transporting construction material. The BMC and Mumbai police have launched a drive to check pollution and are monitoring construction sites. The quality of air in Mumbai has improved since the first week of November. A comprehensive report will be submitted to the Bombay high court.
