Statistics obtained from Mumbai police through the RTI Act reveal that more minor girls in Mumbai are dying by suicide than ever before. Between 2019 and 2022, the data shows that 231 underage girls ended their lives, a 23% increase compared to the 188 boys who died by suicide in the same period. While suicides among adult men still outnumber women, the trend is concerning for minor girls.
