Despite the planned cancellation of 256 suburban train services, chaos and overcrowding were observed at most Western Railway stations in Mumbai. Commuters complained about poor frequency of services and last-minute cancellations. The cancellations were due to the construction of the sixth line between Khar and Goregaon stations, which started on October 7. Railway authorities have deployed security personnel to regulate crowds and avoid stampede-like situations.
