The garbage collection staffer, Vikram Athwal (35) who died by suicide on Friday after he was arrested for the murder of a 23-year-old air hostess at her Andheri flat, had gone into depression and regretted his action. On Thursday night, the guard at the lockup in Andheri (E) overheard him saying that he should not have killed the victim. A case of accidental death by suicide has been registered with the Andheri police station and the matter has been transferred to the Mumbai crime branch unit 9.
