Google Doodle honours Kamala Sohonie: Who was she?

Kamala Sohonie, the first woman to join the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), was a biochemist who completed her Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge on Cytochrome C in 14 months. She continued her research after returning to India, where her work focused on developing healthy and affordable dietary supplements such as Neera, which won her the Rashtrapati Award. Dr. Sohonie was the first female director of the Royal Institute of Science in Bombay. She died in 1998 after being honoured by the Indian Council of Medical Research.
