China Ocean Shipping Group (Cosco), a state-owned enterprise, has debuted the Greenwater 01, the largest fully electric container ship globally. This vessel will ply weekly between the prominent coastal hubs of Shanghai and Nanjing. As per state broadcaster CCTV, the Greenwater 01 relies entirely on batteries for propulsion, showcasing a noteworthy advancement in environmentally conscious shipping methodologies.
