MANILA, Philippines --- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Tuesday that it distributed assistance on Monday to victims of a fire in La Union. The fire broke out in a market in San Fernando, La Union, on January 11. "The DSWD augmented 1,500 family food packs to the city government of San Fernando so that they will be able to provide additional assistance to the affected market vendors whose stalls were razed to the ground," DSWD Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez said. The DSWD added that it also is coordinating with the local government to give assistance to victims of another fire in Barangay San Juan, in Taytay, Rizal.
