Mumbai Police registered cases against 283 people for drunk driving during New Year celebrations. Traffic police deployed security personnel at important locations in the city for a 12-hour campaign. Violations of traffic rules resulted in fines for the offenders. In addition to drunk driving, cases were also registered for riding without helmets, wrong-side driving, and rash driving. Police ensured peaceful New Year celebrations by conducting checks at sensitive locations. Citizens celebrated at popular spots and religious places, as well as in housing societies and on building terraces.
