The transport department in New Delhi has taken action against 122 car owners who violated restrictions on driving BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel cars. The restrictions were implemented as part of the Graded Response Action Plan Stage III after the city's air quality fell into the "severe" category. Any violators will be fined Rs 20,000. The restriction affects around 1.5 lakh petrol four-wheelers and 2.3 lakh diesel vehicles in the city. Enforcement teams have been deployed to enforce the restrictions and tackle congestion.
