Devotees celebrated Dussehra by burning an effigy of the demon king Ravana. The city was filled with festive decorations and some people made purchases of gold and new vehicles. Devi mandals and Durga Puja pandals bid farewell to the goddess and performed immersion rituals. Married women participated in the Sindoor Khela ritual. Jewellery showrooms saw moderate footfall, with buyers choosing small coins or bars over ornaments. People also worshipped the tools of their trade and an initiative was organized to encourage respect for women among the younger generation.
