September 2023 saw 483mm of rainfall in Mumbai, which was below the average but higher than the previous year. This year's monsoon season fell just short of the 3,000-mm mark, with a total recorded rainfall of 2,978mm. The Indian Meteorological Department predicts light to moderate rain in the coming days, indicating the monsoon's withdrawal. Independent meteorologists believe the withdrawal will be earlier than expected, possibly within the next three days. The delayed onset of the monsoon this year was attributed to cyclone Biparjoy. Water stock in the city's lakes is currently at 99% of capacity.
