Chief minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday announced an inquiry into the BMC's Rs 263 crore worth purchase of street furniture. Shinde said a committee will be set up to probe allegations of corruption in the deal. CM Shinde made the announcement a day after former minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray said he put questions before municipal commissioner Iqbal Chahal through a letter sent on July 1, but was yet to get any response.
