India has urged both global and domestic trade houses to refrain from purchasing new-season wheat from local farmers in order to support the government-backed Food Corporation of India (FCI) in procuring large quantities to replenish its diminishing reserves, according to sources. The country, a major consumer and producer of wheat, banned exports in 2022 and seeks to bolster stocks and stabilize prices following adverse weather conditions affecting output in 2022 and 2023.
