The bedrock of the global financial system, US 10-year bond yields have shot up to 16-year highs. In Germany, the benchmark yield recently touched its highest since the 2011 eurozone debt crisis. Even in Japan, where official rates are still below 0%, bond yields are back at levels seen in 2013. In the case of the UK, not 10 years but 30 years rose to the highest level since 1998.
