Though India’s aviation infrastructure blueprint emphasises a lot on building new airports in smaller cities to provide last-mile connectivity through its Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme, it is critical to prioritise rapid expansion of existing facilities in metro airports that attract maximum traffic. According to the blueprint, Jewar’s handling capacity will initially be 12 MPPA (million passengers per annum), which will be increased to 70 MPPA by FY2039.
