The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is expected to hold another auction of 5G spectrum in January-February 2023, with a total worth of ₹2.5 lakh crore at base price. The auction is likely to include airwaves in 11 bands from 600 MHz up to above 37 GHz, including millimetre wave (mmWave) bands which may be put up for sale for the first time. Experts predict that the auction will have limited bidding intensity, with only Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel expected to be in the fray, while Vodafone Idea struggles to survive.
