Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) plans to enter Myanmar once the situation is conducive and set up retail outlets, as the area close to Moreah on the Indian side is an un-serviced area with high potential, but the regime change has delayed their plans. Chairman and Managing Director of NRL, Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, said, “Myanmar definitely is going to be in our radar as the Asian highway is also coming up there and it will be a potential area as it is under service.” NRL is increasing its capacity from 3 to 9 MMTPA with an investment of INR280bn ($3.78bn).
