Empowering women - whether in the boardroom, workplace or household - is not just about bridging the gender gap. It is also a strategic means to empower India's economy as a whole. For this reason alone, gender-budgeting - revealing the different impacts of spending and revenue decisions on women and men - is imperative. This was the singular idea pitched by Times Group vice chairperson and managing editor Samir Jain in his welcome address at last week's ET Awards of Corporate Excellence.
