Banks are currently offering high-interest rates for fixed deposits with a tenure of one to three years, due to the recent changes in repo rates causing higher rates. Longer-term deposit rates have not increased as much as a result. The larger banks offer rates between 7-7.5%, smaller private banks give 7.5-7.9%, and small finance banks providing higher rates, even up to 9%. Although fixed deposit rates are a good option for emergency cash, it would be desirable to prioritize the tenure of the deposit over the interest rate when investing in it.
