The 550 km-long Aravalli Range is a fragile biodiversity-rich ecosystem. It is the NCR's only water and air recharge zone. The range acts as a natural barrier against the encroachment of the Thar desert, a protection against sandstorms, and sustains the region's water levels. Their continued degradation also contributes to the NCR's increased air pollution, water stress from falling water levels, and desertification.
