Russia Says Iran Doesn't Want Escalation As Tehran Downplays "Quadcopter" Attack, "US Not Involved"

World leaders urged de-escalation after Israel’s reported strike on Iran stoked fears of an all-out war between the two arch-rivals. Italian FM Antonio Tajani claimed that the US told G7 that it received “last minute” information from Israel about a drone action in Iran. The Iranian Foreign Minister has said that the downed quadcopters over the Iranian city of Isfahan did not cause any material or physical damage. The Turkish President said statements by both Israel and Iran regarding the tension between the two countries could not be trusted. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow has made clear to Israel that Tehran “does not want escalation”.
