A direct attack on Israel from Iran could come within the next 24 to 48 hours, the Wall Street Journal reported on April 11, citing sources. Earlier, a US official said Washington expected an attack by Iran against Israel but one that would not be “big enough” to draw Washington into war. The Israeli military said it was fully prepared for an incoming strike amid warnings of a major Iranian assault on the Jewish state. Iran's foreign minister told his German counterpart that "legitimate defence with the aim of punishing the aggressor is a necessity".
