UN Equates Al-Shifa's "Utter Devastation" To "Graveyard"

Personnel from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) have surveyed the destroyed Al Shifa Hospital complex in Gaza City, equating its "utter devastation" to a "graveyard".In the video, taken on April 5, OCHA personnel could be seen walking through a destroyed emergency room filled with debris and along blown-out walls of a hospital corridor."Shifa has literally become a graveyard. There are bodies still in this courtyard. The buildings have been completely destroyed," Jonathan Whittall, OCHA Deputy Head of Office for Occupied Palestinian Territory.Al-Shifa, the Gaza Strip's biggest hospital before the war, was one of the few healthcare facilities that had been partially operational in the north before Israeli forces conducted a two-week raid on it.With Gaza in ruins, most of the 2.3 million population have been forced from their homes and now depend on aid for survival. The recent killing of the seven aid workers, which included citizens of Britain, Australia and Poland, a dual U.S.-Canadian national and a Palestinian colleague, has stirred global outrage this week.
