Powerful Haitian gang leader Jimmy Cherizier, also known as "Barbecue," attempted a coup to overthrow PM Ariel Henry, who is currently in Kenya. Violence erupted in Haiti for two consecutive days as gangs warned Henry against returning to the country. Cherizier also asked families to keep children from going to school to "avoid collateral damages" as violence surged in parts of the capital.
