NASA Observatory Captures Sun Spewing Strong Solar Flare

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured on Thursday (February 22) the Sun emitting a strong solar flare, which peaked at 5:34 p.m. EST (2234 GMT).Imagery shared by NASA showed the flare, which is seen as a "bright flash in the upper left of the Sun."According to NASA, these solar flares are intense releases of energy from the Sun which can impact "radio communications, electric power grids, navigation signals, and pose risks to spacecraft and astronauts."Feb. 22 flare is known as an X6.3 flare. NASA explained that X-class flares are the most intense and that the number indicates their intensity.
