Lawyers representing the United States government argued that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange should face espionage charges in the US as he went beyond journalism and put innocent lives at risk by soliciting and indiscriminately publishing classified US government documents. The 52-year-old Australian has been indicted on 17 charges of espionage and one charge of computer misuse.
