Taiwan's remaining Pacific Island allies have offered their support following Nauru's decision to cut ties, just days after a presidential election, reducing Taiwan's diplomatic footprint in the area to three countries. With Nauru's departure, Taiwan's regional allies have been reduced from six to three since 2019, despite heightened US-China rivalry for security relations and offers of infrastructure and financing.
