Spanish politician Alejo Vidal-Quadras, who was shot in Madrid earlier this month, has accused Iran of being behind the attempted murder. Vidal-Quadras, a founder of Spain's far-right Vox party, made the accusation in a statement delivered to a conference organized by Iranian opposition supporters. He remains in hospital recovering from a double jaw fracture. Vidal-Quadras did not provide any evidence to support his claim, and police have not confirmed the theory.
