Iran rapper jailed over backing protests freed on bail: Report

Toomaj Salehi, a popular rapper in Iran, has been released on bail after being jailed for over a year for supporting protests triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini. Salehi was sentenced to six years in prison for "corruption on earth," but the Supreme Court found flaws in the initial sentence and ordered his release. Another prominent figure, actor Hanieh Tavassoli, has been given a six-month prison term and a fine for "publishing false content with the intention of disturbing the public." The protests following Amini's death resulted in numerous casualties and arrests.
