Yemen's Huthis have shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone off the coast of Yemen, according to a senior US defense official. The Houthi rebel group, backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the incident. The Pentagon had previously acknowledged flying MQ-9s over Gaza to gather intelligence for hostage recovery efforts following an attack by Hamas on Israel. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been spotted circling Gaza, with at least six drones being used for surveillance.
