Jailed Iranian Nobel laureate Mohammadi goes on hunger strike

Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi has begun a hunger strike in an Iranian jail in protest against the lack of access to medical care. The women's rights advocate, who won the award earlier this month, has reportedly been denied treatment for heart and lung conditions as she refused to wear a headscarf during a hospital visit. Mohammadi is currently serving multiple sentences totalling 12 years imprisonment on charges including spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic.
