The Taliban in Afghanistan are benefiting from international aid through fraudulent NGOs, according to a report by the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction. The Taliban has increased control over NGOs since seizing power in August 2021, using tactics such as extorting and infiltrating existing organizations. They have also barred Afghan women from NGO work and sought to push out foreign organizations from the education sector.
