Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, is considered the top target for Israeli troops planning to invade the enclave. Sinwar, who served over two decades in Israeli jails before being released in 2011, is regarded as a brutal enforcer within Hamas and a staunch enemy of Israel. He is believed to be behind the recent attacks that killed over 1,300 Israelis. Sinwar grew up in Khan Younis and helped form Hamas in 1987.
