Protesters in Tokyo formed a human chain to demand the government save thousands of trees by revising its plan to redevelop a popular downtown park. The plan, approved by Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike, would require cutting down nearly 3,000 trees and raze a historic baseball stadium. The protesters argue that the plan goes against global efforts to fight climate change and that the trees and cultural heritage cannot be replaced.
