US orders evacuation of some embassy staff, families from Niger
The US has ordered the evacuation of some personnel and families from its embassy in Niger after the military took control of the government. Despite closing the embassy doors to non-emergency personnel, senior leadership will continue to operate from the building. Niger is a key ally of western countries in their fight against Islamist militants.
