Pakistan passes law paving way for return of Nawaz Sharif

Pakistan has passed a law limiting the disqualification period of parliamentarians to not exceeding five years, a move seen as paving the way for exiled former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's return to politics. Sharif was barred from politics for life in 2018 and then sentenced to seven years in jail. Sharif's brother Shehbaz Sharif is the current Prime Minister.
