Iran continues to be among the world's leading executioners, having executed a minimum of 203 prisoners since the beginning of this year, according to Iran Human Rights, an Oslo-based organization. However, the implementation of death sentences for blasphemy is infrequent, as previous cases have seen the sentences reduced by the authorities.
