US readies $400 million new arms aid for Ukraine
Ukraine is fighting for control of the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk province against Russian forces. The city has become one of the bloodiest battles of the war, with Russian forces taking no account of their losses in trying to take the city by assault. Ukrainian forces are digging new trenches in an attempt to hold back the Russians.
