For a better part of the day, the playing surface for the fourth Test between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium was kept under wraps, seemingly to protect it from the unforgiving sun. It was only late in the afternoon when things had cooled down a bit that the ground staff lifted the tarpaulin covers to give everyone a glimpse of the pitch.
