The first Indian to break into the top-25 of the ITTF rankings, Sathiyan's table tennis graph hit ascendancy in 2017; and though he slipped to No. 31 before the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was only a matter of a couple of tournaments before he would have qualified for the Tokyo Games.
