Pagasa raises heavy rainfall alerts in 11 areas in Visayas and Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines --- Heavy rainfall warnings are hoisted in 11 areas in Visayas and Mindanao as Tropical Storm 'Kabayan' maintains its strength while moving westward towards Mindanao. As of 7 a.m. on Monday, Kabayan (international name Jelawat) was spotted along the coastal waters of Manay, Davao Oriental. It is moving with a speed of 20 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kph and a gustiness of up to 80 kph. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said because of the downpours from by the tropical storm, rainfall warnings up over some areas in Visayas and Mindanao.
