MANILA, Philippines --- Effects of the southwest monsoon, which is locally termed habagat, are predicted to strengthen in the coming days, the state weather bureau said Saturday. In a weather report, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said rains that would occur in the next few days would be mainly due to the southwest monsoon as it has not observed any weather disturbances within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
