LUCENA CITY -- A woman pedestrian and a motorcycle rider died in separate accidents in Quezon province on Saturday, July 29, police said. Quezon police, in a report Sunday, July 30, said that motorcyclist Rommel Medrano, 36, and his back rider, Merriam Castillo, 31, were traversing the Maharlika Highway in Barangay (village) Madlandungan in Calauag town around 10 p.m. when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle after he stepped on the brake due to the rough pavement. The wayward motorcycle consequently slid and threw off the riders who landed on the pavement.
