PBA: Kevin Ferrer sidelined for 6-8 months after Achilles surgery

MANILA, Philippines---Terrafirma's Kevin Ferrer successfully underwent surgery on his torn Achilles tendon on Thursday, a day after he suffered the injury in a preseason game against TNT, according to a TV report. Ferrer had to be wheeled out of Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on a stretcher with 16 seconds left in the second quarter of the Dyip's 104-92 win over the Tropang Giga in PBA On Tour on Wednesday. The 30-year-old Ferrer had been initially deemed out for 10-12 months but Terrafirma's physical therapist Raymund Jose said the former University of Santo Tomas ace could return to action in six to eight months.
