Mild quakes hit Quirino, Cagayan provinces

RAMON, Isabela ---- Mild earthquakes rocked Quirino province on Wednesday night and Cagayan province on Thursday morning as residents prepared for Typhoon "Ramon." Calayan town in Cagayan was shaken by a 3.6-magnitude tectonic quake at 10:51 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. At 10:28 p.m. on Wednesday, a 4.9-magnitude quake struck Nagtipunan in Quirino. No aftershocks were reported and the twin tremors did not leave any damage. Roused from his sleep by the rocking, Quirino resident Fheng Padin Dela Rosa said the Wednesday quake "was brief but strong [and] I was not able to sleep after that."
