​While a lot is talked about heart attack, stroke, which is a major cause of disability and death worldwide, is not discussed enough. According to the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD), there has been a significant increase in new stroke cases, total stroke cases, stroke-related deaths, and disability indicators from 1990 to 2019. In India, the annual incidence of stroke ranges from 108 to 172 cases per 100,000 population per year, with higher rates among men.​
